Easter

We had a wonder Easter weekend. My Great Uncle and his daughter came in Thursday to visit my Granny. Poor granny has a hard time remembering things now. Each day that they were here, she would be so surprised that they came to visit. She is so precious. I am always amazed to here some of the stories she can recall from years ago. I know that one day, I will miss hearing these stories. My Uncle stayed through Sunday, so in my family that means several nights of card playing.

On Saturday, we had an amazing Easter event at church. There was a wonderful turn out for the first time. I am hopeful this event continues for many years. I told Luke we were going to this event to minister for God. He asked why we had to minister for God. I explained that not everyone knows The Lord and that we need to share God with others. He said "Mom how can people not know God? He is right up there looking down on us!". I further explained that we needed to invite people to church. He said, "Why do we have to invite people to church? Everyone I know goes to church already!" Saturday also marked the loss of Clay Maples, a 15 year old from our church who had been fighting cancer for the past two years. After we left for home from the Easter event, Luke asked me, "what happened to that boy named Clay from our church?" I had hoped he did not hear everyone talking but Luke is pretty smart and picks up on things quickly. So I tried to explain that Clay went to Heaven. He asked why and I told him "because God was ready for Clay to be with him and that Clay had been really sick for a long time." Luke seemed to understand but then continued to ask more questions. He wanted to know how we get to heaven, and if he could pack some toys when he goes to heaven. I explained that hopefully, that would be a long time away. After a few minutes, Luke looked at me and said, "mom I don't want to have to die to go to heaven." Wow at what a 4 year old can understand.

On Sunday, we celebrated our risen Savior. After church, we went to Grandma and Pa's house for lunch. The kids hunted eggs and had a blast. I was able to share with Luke the true reason for Easter and he remembered it very well.
