FBC Egg hunt

One of our outreaches as a church is to host a Community Wide Egg hunt.  This is the third year we have done this and each year gets bigger and better.  Being the big food addict that I am, I always volunteer to work food, HA!

We all come together as a church an celebrate giving back to our community and we enjoy showing all those that attend the Love of The LORD.

Wes is always in charge of cotton candy as the rest of us fail to create worthy candy for the kiddos.

The registration ladies worked hard trying to keep up with the large crowd and ensure that we get information that will help later as we reach out to the community to encourage them to visit our church.

This year a man from our church dressed up as a clown and that was a huge hit with the kiddos (except for those afraid of clowns).

Evan enjoyed hunting Easter eggs.

Evan also enjoyed the games.

Mom's 60th

This past week we had a huge birthday celebration for my mom's 60th.  She had no idea about the party and it is quite impressive that we were able to keep the secret with more than 60 people in attendance.

Friday, I took a vacation day so that I could begin cooking.  I made 4 different types of cupcakes for a total of 96 cupcakes: red velvet with cream cheese icing, strawberry with strawberry icing, confetti cake with white icing, and yellow cake with chocolate icing.  They were so tasty that we only made it to the party with 91 cupcakes. HA!

Everyone gathered and ready to surprise Momma.

Mom was so surprised and of course she was crying.

One of the most exciting aspects of this party is that mom's favorite niece made the trip from Texas to surprise her.

Some of the other food I prepared for the party included 2 types of chicken legs, 2 types of meatloaf, the best mac and cheese ever, and baked beans.

We also had hot dogs for the kiddos (and a few adults that act like kiddos, LOL).

I also made ranch potato salad, coleslaw, 7 layer salad, and deviled eggs.  Here are a few of the recipes (I don't really measure so you will have to guess too):

Coleslaw:
  • bagged coleslaw
  • red wine vinegar
  • sugar
  • mayo
  • salt and pepper
  • purple onion
  • mix all ingredients and serve cold
Ranch Potato Salad:
  • Red potatoes diced and cooked
  • Green Onion
  • mayo
  • ranch dry packet
  • cooked bacon
  • cheddar cheese
  • mix all ingredients and serve cold
7 layer salad:
  • lettuce
  • spinach leaves
  • green onion
  • boiled eggs
  • cooked bacon (lots of it)
  • cheddar cheese
  • tomato
  • dressing (mayo and sour cream mixed with a little dill) make enough you can have a thick layer over the salad
  • salt and pepper between layers
  • layer in the order you prefer (my order is usually: lettuce, spinach, boiled eggs, salt and pepper, tomato, dressing, cheese, bacon, green onion)
Baked Beans:
  • Hot Sausage cooked
  • original Bush's baked beans
  • Cavendar's (more than you can even imagine)
  • ketchup
  • mustard
Hope you guys can enjoy a few of these items.  Happy Birthday MOM!!

Spring is Here

We are so thankful that Winter is over and Spring has Sprung!  The boys love being outside and I hate being cold so this much warmer weather is a blessing.

We decided to go with the Newton's for some baseball after church.  The kiddos had a great time.

Luke waiting on a ball to arrive!

Landon was really hitting that ball hard.

We played some basketball before going to the park.  I think the boys enjoyed playing against daddy.

As you can see from my shoe, I kicked back and watched the first of many basketball games that I expect to occur at our house.

Some nice defense boys.

Snow day

Well I started this blog back in March but never finished it.  We had another snow day and we went to Bruno to have fun.

Evan enjoyed putting a puzzle together with Grandma at Granny's house.

This snow was so pretty and thick.  The boys were able to sled really good.

Luke even began sledding all by himself down the huge hill.

Evan wanted to go by himself too.

Pa and the boys kicked back in the most awesome sled.  These boys are so lucky to have grandparents that are still young at heart and love to play outside with them.
